Tall tales and local legends pass from mouth to mouth in the Underhive, but more than often the truth is filled with horror and sadness than with heroic or daring deeds.
Coffin Heights has always been home to to the legendary Orlock gang the Gunslingers. For four generations these hard nosed Underhive warriors have fought to protect their families, friends and Guilder contacts. A year before the Battle at the Crag, before the Imperial House outlawed the gangs, before the death of the Orlock hero Jester, the Gunslingers fearless leader, Uriel Harrigan " The Duke" , vanished from his home atop the Warhorse Inn.
Locals claimed it was payback for all the murders of Ratskins he committed. They suspected Spyrers wanted him for a trophy or worse- that the mad wyrd Skorzezzie the Ghoul master had cursed him for burning his holestead out in the Red Watses.
The Gunslingers searched all of Coffin Heights for several days. Days turned into weeks and the gang decided to search the surrounding domes. They visited all their enemies-swearing to disembowel and behead anyone who had anything to with his disappearance.
The gang gave up the search for the Duke after four months and decided to make a new chief from their own ranks. During this time the Gunslingers rarely saw any gunfights and focused their efforts on business matters.
They soon came to realize they would never see their leader again.
A mural was painted on the side of the Warhorse Inn to commemorate their fallen leader.
All was quiet in the Echo until a raving mad Redemptionist staggered into the Warhorse. He screamed for help and his words were sporadic nonsense. The barkeep, a stocky youth people called Kort tried to calm him down by giving the fanatic several drinks of Wild Snake.
The man doubled over and fainted from exhaustion.
Several members of the Gunslingers searched his robes only to discover the man had a pair of dog tags.
The name on the tags read : Private Uriel Harrigan, Necromundan 17th.
The gangers shook the Redemptionist awake and demanded where and how he obtained the Dukes' necklace.
His only replied was, " From the beast himself", as he rocked back and forth, crying and shaking uncontrollably.
Within minutes the young lad died. They investigated his body, finding horrible wounds and worse- several bite marks that could only be human.
The Gunslingers dragged the body outside the Warhorse and set fire to his carcass.
The gang never spoke of this incident, but everyone knows, in the darkest of days and coldest of places, the shambling form of the once proud Duke of the Gunslingers, stalks the alley ways and avenues- forever bound to undeath, roaming Coffin Heights.
